Hard cover books...  Solemn covers strike the look of a fancy novel made simple yet radiates elegance. Its appearance matches well with the wonderful writing on the inside though rather misguiding at the first glance for some historical textbook or anything but forbidden text on the love of 2 men.






Even if you don't know half of a word in Korean, you'd want a copy. Thorn Year's conquered the hearts of many talented artie fans (the manga above is one perfect example of countless fanart that this fic has recieved), the book is filled with butterfly illustrations that are dedicated and created esp to ensure the graphic content is conveyed to the fullest.

...At a glance

First of all, thx to  with_mint  for translating Jaejoong's UFO reply, prompting me to gather up different piece of info relating to Gaishyeon to bring foward this entry, Thorn Year 101, and then second of all for providing additional info on the fic as follows:

Thorn Year has 3 parts, thorn year itself is the main story. There is also a presequel and a sequel.
Presequel - their story during high school
Main story - their story when they're 27 year-old - started with jaejoong moving into the house of married Yunho.
Sequel: their story when they're 32 year-old 

Last of all is my rough summary (spoiler at the very end) on Thorn Year as I was told briefly by a friend who has read portions of the fic. You like what you've seen so far? It's sure reflective of the main theme which is undeniable hard core smex like jaejoong himself had it there for us to spazz in his response but that is not all. Above all the dramas and physical encounters, as a whole, this is a Yunjae love story that is beautifully well written and printed as it is absolutely sad and heart wrenching. The struggles, the helpless love, the burried flame that wouldn't die out in drowning tears once again rekindled when Jae came back into Yunho's life after the agonzing years of going separate way. In the portrayal of a conflicted character, Yunho at the time had settled down with a woman who soon to be giving birth to their daughter. Though being a good husband, fullfilling the responsibilities that of a married man, not even once was Yunho able to break free from the phantom of the forbidden love shared between him and Jaejoong during their youth, which continued to hover on his tormenting life so called marriage. With Jae sharing the same roof as Yunho, under the cousin facade that he used as an excuse to move in, things bound to get interesting and heavy. According to xiao, Jae is depicted to be  "very dependent of yunho, and knows that yunho cant resist him", also that his character "seemed extreme and a bit psychotic". Their passionate secret affair, skillfully wrapped in a compendious style and restricted rating that made up the majority of the fic, ended in a heart aching suicidal finale. At the end Jae killed himself first, and so did Yunho afterward when his daughter reached her 17th birthday.
